Fund donates to Help Center

The Fund for Bogalusa recently awarded a grant to the Bogalusa Help Center for badly need repair to a portion of the facilities’ leaky asphalt roof.

The Bogalusa Help Center opened its doors 28 years ago to provide canned and packaged food to those in need to include qualified low income families, disabled and the elderly citizens in the Bogalusa area.  In 2015 the all-volunteer staff of the Bogalusa Help Center served 5,353 families, 8,614 hungry mouths and 146 new families.

The Fund of Bogalusa at the Northshore Community Foundation was established in 1999 to meet the changing human service and economic development needs and opportunities of the Bogalusa area. The Fund for Bogalusa partnerships with nonprofit organizations that are committed to and actively involved in building the Bogalusa community through economic development and human services.

The Fund believes that communities are strengthened when people see themselves as resources and find successful ways of marshalling their talents and those of local organizations to solve problems.
