Albert Z. James Jr. “Junior,” 64, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans.
He was born Sept. 14, 1952, in Bogalusa, to the late A.Z. James Sr. and Mrs. Helen H. James. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents; his brother, Robert “Rabbit” James; and a very special aunt, Cleo Peters.
A.Z. was employed as a commercial roofer for many years. He accepted Christ at an early age. Thus, he renewed his faith in our Lord and served as a dedicated member at Second Baptist Church until his health declined.
Brother James was once married to the late Wyner Whittine and through this union he leaves to cherish his memory: one daughter, Naturcha (Derrick) Robertson; one stepdaughter, Trisha (Derrick Myles) of Dallas, Texas; and one stepson, Antonio Peters of Bogalusa; three grandsons, Jerrime, Dominique and Chaz’mon James, all of Bogalusa; one granddaughter, Xaveria (Roman) Connerson of Dallas; and seven great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by four sisters, Pamela (Jeanie) James of New Orleans, Debbie Thompson of Mississippi, Penny James of Abita Springs, and Wilda Faye Hughes of Virginia; two brothers, Lawrence (Edna) James of Hammond and Larry James of Philadelphia, Pa. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nephews, very special cousins that he loved and cherished as if they were his siblings; and a special friend, Deborah Palmer.
Visitation for Brother James will be held Friday, May 6, at First Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 2507 Perdido St., in New Orleans, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 7, at 1412 North Ave. in Bogalusa, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Darrel Self officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to Cook-Richmond Funeral Home of Bogalusa.
