Demons get homecoming win

Franklinton’s Tahj Magee accounted for five touchdowns in a 42-27 victory over Church Point in Friday’s homecoming game.

Magee had a huge night, completing 14-of-25 passes for 332 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran for 90 yards and a score.

Jamarian Crain caught six passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns. Darrius Dawson tallied three catches for 50 yards and a touchdown, and he also threw one to Crain. Rakerian Conerly had four receptions for 64 yards and a touchdown.

Franklinton coach Stephen Burris said the Demons’ defense struggled at times, but recovered three fumbles.

He said that Chandler Scott was the best player on defense Friday. night. He said that James Bickham and Rodney King both made some plays and that J.P. Magee probably had his best game.

Burris talked about his team’s overall performance.

“We, at times, played well and at times, we looked like we had never practiced before,” Burris said. “We’re getting better.”

Franklinton opens District 8-4A play Friday when the Demons travel to Salmen (3-1).
