FHS’s Delatte captures both hurdle events at district meet

Franklinton’s Porsha Delatte was victorious in both hurdle events and Danaria Magee captured the javelin at Monday’s District 8-4A Meet that took place at Pearl River, with pole vaulting at Lakeshore.
Delatte ran the 100-meter hurdles in 16.79 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 53.71. Lakeshore’s Elise Poret was second in the 100 hurdles at 17.99 and Lakeshore’s Maddi Miller was the runner-up in the 300 hurdles at 53.96.
Magee threw the javelin 89 feet, 11 inches. St. Scholastica Academy’s Raleigh Quinlan was second with a distance of 89-4. Hayle Davidson took seventh at 66-7.
Monday’s meet was a qualifying meet. The top four finishers from each event move on to the Region 3-4A meet, which is set for next Wednesday at South Terrebonne.
Magee also qualified in the discus with a fourth-place finish at 73-2. Lakeshore’s Ashley Ducre won with a distance of 103-4. Davidson was eighth with a throw of 48-10.
Marlaysia Robertson advanced in the shot put, finishing third at 29-1.75. St. Scholastica Academy’s Aixa Crespo won with a distance of 30-9.5 Aleria Dillon finished fifth at 28-1.
Drahcir Magee was third in the high jump. She tied Lakeshore’s Elizabeth Wangler and Loranger’s Lindsey Ard, as the three cleared the 4-10 bar. The tiebreaker is fewest misses. Wangler won with Ard coming in second and Magee finishing third.
Tellise Magee is headed to regionals after a fourth-place finish in the long jump at 14-4.25. Ard won the event, going 14-9.75. Drahcir Magee was fifth at 14-2.75.
Raelyn Gross took fourth in the 100 with a time of 12.76. Loranger’s Kiana Foster won in 12.01. Deja Conerly was sixth at 13.50.
Both of Franklinton’s relay teams advanced. The 4×100 and 4×200 teams were second with times of 51.23 and 1 minute, 50 seconds, respectively.
The 4×100 team featured Jalyn Bickham, Tellise Magee, Jada Thompson and Gross.
The 4×200 squad had Bickham, India Dickerson, Tellise Magee and Gross.
Salmen won both events, running the 4×100 in 51 seconds and the 4×200 in 1:48.
Also for Franklinton, Drahcir Magee and Tiarra James ran sixth and eighth in the 400 with times of 1:13 and 1:16. St. Scholastica Academy’s Molly McHale won in 1:03.
Tamirria Thomas and Gross were fifth and ninth in the 200 at 29.09 and 36.90. Foster won in 25.31.
Lakeshore won the team competition with 184 points, as six teams posted at least one point.
St. Scholastica Academy was second with 112 points, followed by Loranger’s 79, Franklinton’s 78 and Salmen’s 61 to round out the top five.
