Walter L. Smith Sr., of Angie, at the age of 73 departed this life peacefully to go home with his Lord and Saviour on Aug. 16, 2019. God whispered in his ear and said my son it is time to come home and rest. He was born Dec. 7, 1945, to the late J.D. and Mary Smith in Independence.
Walter worked for International Paper Mill 42 years in the woodmill department.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife, Ossie Smith of Angie; daughter, Jennifer (Chris) Peters of Petal, Miss.; son, Walter L. Smith Jr. and his special friend, Tiffany of Saucier, Miss.; five grandchildren, Janizia and LaDaisha Peters of Petal, Sara Lee Smith of Tulsa, Okla., Kayla and Karmon Smith of Tylertown, Miss.; one god-child, Alicia Gholar of Atlanta, Ga.; three aunts; special brother, Royan Morris of Bogalusa; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 23, at the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 24, at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Angie from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Sidney Burns, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Dillon Cemetery in Angie.
