Pine High School’s Khalil Washington
Pine’s Khalil Washington is a two-sport athlete.
The senior plays football and basketball.
In basketball, Washington plays both guard positions. In football, he is a safety.
“Khalil is a great player to have on the team,” Pine basketball coach Brett Cooper said. “He brings a lot of energy to our team offensively and defensively. He has a great work ethic and is very respectful. He’s setting a good example for our younger guys coming up and helping to get our program where we want it to be. He’s a great leader.”
What do you enjoy most about playing your sports?
I just love my teammates. They’re pretty cool dudes. I enjoy being around them.
What do you like best about being a student athlete?
I guess it gives me more leadership. It keeps me in my place.
Who has been the most influential person in your school sports career? Why?
My momma (Cynthia Barba) because she’s always pushed me to keep going harder and harder for what I want.
Who is your favorite athlete? Why?
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic because he’s young and he’s one of the smartest players I know.
Best thing about living in Washington Parish?
The people are all very friendly. It’s a nice community.
