SLU volleyball falls to Seattle in UNM Classic Finale
The Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team fell, 25-16, 24-26, 25-19, 25-17, to Seattle in UNM Classic finale Saturday at The Pit.
SLU (0-7) faced Seattle (3-7) for the first time in program history.
Karlee Wilkerson and Hannah Brewer combined for eight kills, without an error, on 14 attempts in the second set, sparking the SLU offense to even the match at one set apiece.
Wilkerson, a senior from Springfield, Louisiana, led three Lady Lions in double-digit kills (14), joining freshmen outside hitters Cicily Hidalgo (13) and Brewer (10).
Gracie Duplechein, a freshman setter from St. Amant, Louisiana, turned in a double-double, handing out a season-high 39 assists and picking up 17 digs.
Brewer, who hit .500 during the match, also contributed on the defensive end. The native of Benton, Arkansas posted nine total blocks, tying a Lady Lion season-high. Wilkerson had a hand in six blocks as well.
Libero Ansley Tullis recorded a team-high 20 digs, making it back-to-back matches with at least 20 digs for the sophomore from Slidell.
Southeastern plays in its final tournament of the regular season, the Jackrabbit Invitational presented by the Super 8 of Brookings, next weekend at South Dakota State University. SLU is slated to face the host Jackrabbits, Drake and Idaho, Sept. 17-18, at Frost Arena in Brookings, South Dakota.
