Varnado was defeated by Riverside Academy, 56-0, in a District 10-1A game that was held at home on Friday.
“Our kids played hard,” Varnado coach Adam Brumfield said. “They were just bigger, faster and had a lot more players than us. When you have that combination along with disciplined kids it’s a recipe for winning.”
Riverside went into last week ranked seventh in Class 1A for the Louisiana Sports Writers Association poll. They moved up to fifth this week.
