Earl Edward “Wally” Wallace III, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and man of deep faith, passed away peacefully on Feb. 23, 2025, at the age of 78. Born in Peoria, Ill., on Nov. 6, 1946, Earl lived a life marked by hard work, service, and love for his family.

Earl honorably served his country as a United States Navy Veteran during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at the Naval Station in Long Beach, Calif., serving four years as a Signalman SM2 E-5 aboard the USS Theodore E. Chandler.

Following his military service, with a degree in Forestry, Earl built a long career as a supervisor at the paper mill in Bogalusa, La., where he was known for his leadership and dedication. Later in life, his passion for learning led him to earn a Master’s in Theology, which he used to make a meaningful impact as a substitute teacher, helping children with special needs.

An avid outdoorsman, Earl found joy in fishing, a love he shared with his father and his brother, Joe. He was also a dedicated runner, completing multiple marathons, even into his 60s, some of which he proudly ran alongside his son, Earl.

His faith was central to his life. As a converted member of the Catholic Church, Earl served in many roles, including as a minister, RCIA teacher, lector, and Eucharistic minister. His commitment to his faith and his church community was unwavering.

Earl is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Wallace; his children, Robert Wallace, Mandy (Scott) Honker, and Earl (Lori) Wallace IV, and his cherished grandchildren, Noah Davis, Earl Wallace V, and Sofia Wallace. He is also survived by his sister, Sherry Snell, and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Edward Wallace Jr. and Colleen Virginia Wallace, and his brother, Joe Wallace.

Earl’s legacy is one of kindness, perseverance, and faith. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.  May he rest in eternal peace.

Earl will be laid to rest in the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at a private graveside service with Military Honors.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery Wreaths Across America  are appreciated.  Memories and condolences may be expressed at www.AudubonFuneralHome.com
