Brenda Crain, beloved wife of Charles “Bud” Crain, died peacefully on March 6 at 6:30 in the morning. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Peggy and Ray Breland of Bogalusa, La.; her brother, Ray “Buster” Breland Jr of Bogalusa, and her son, Charles Brett Crain. She is succeeded by her brother, Keri Alan Breland of Denham Springs, La.; her daughter, Tara Woodford of Knoxville, Tenn., and her two step-daughters, Sonya Flynn and Terri Rutledge of Isabel, La. She is also succeeded by her three grandsons, Ryan Flynn, Kenneth Woodford, Colton Woodford, and her great-grandson, Braxton Flynn. The family extends special thanks to Brenda’s caregiver, Martha Phillips.
Brenda was an accomplished artist in watercolors, oils, and stained glass sculpture. She was a well known beautician and the proprietor of BB’s Gossip Shop on Superior Avenue in Bogalusa. She was an avid fan of line dancing and enjoyed traveling the world. She enjoyed football, antique cars, Pomeranians, and, most of all, Gunsmoke. She was an accomplished bowler, holding the highest women’s average score when she played. Brenda also took pride in being a charter member of the revered “Superior Avenue Gang” and enjoyed their many gatherings and shenanigans.
The service will take place at Poole Ritchie Funeral Home, 216 Alabama Avenue, Bogalusa, LA 70427 on Monday, March 17, 2025, starting at 11 in the morning, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. The Rev. Larry Mizell will preside over the service. In lieu of flowers, please donate as you are able to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
