On Thursday, March 27 2025, Officers with the Bogalusa Police Department located and arrested Jerry Charles Baker Jr on felony warrant charges of Second Degree Murder, Illegal Use Of Weapons, and Possession of Weapons by a Convicted Felon.

This investigation stems from a shooting incident that occurred on January 2, 2025 in Bogalusa that ultimately resulted in the death of Ryan Simmons of Franklinton La. After an extensive investigation, warrants were issued for Baker.

Upon his arrest, Baker was also in possession of a stolen firearm and legend drugs that resulted in additional charges.

This matter will be forwarded to the 22nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
