The D.A. Varnado Store Museum will host an inspiring art show, curated by Jimmy Descant of Arizona, on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will showcase the remarkable art of his father, Joe Descant, alongside a collection of memorabilia and photos honoring the enduring legacy of Pearl White Descant. This celebration will also highlight Mrs. Pearl’s extraordinary journey as the Teddy Bear Lady, renowned for her exquisite, handmade bears sold at local fairs and markets, and her remarkable contributions to the war effort on the home front. Originally from Michigan, she played a vital role in supporting her community, and later, in 1961, embarked on a new chapter, marrying and relocating to Franklinton, where she left a lasting impact on our community.

The art show will take place in the Varnado Store Museum Annex behind the museum.
