American Legion Also Honors Top Police, Fire and Teacher for Their Dedication and Service

In a heartfelt ceremony held at Bogalusa’s American Legion Hall, the post recognized Wendy Williams Dupont as its 2024-2025 Citizen of the Year, honoring her tireless efforts with Bogalusa Rebirth and her dedication to helping families secure safe, affordable housing. Dupont’s work has transformed lives by revitalizing neighborhoods and restoring hope to families in need across the city.
Bogalusa Rebirth is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization of Bogalusa’s historic neighborhoods through affordable housing, economic development, and community engagement. Under Dupont’s leadership, the organization has secured funding through grants and partnerships to rehabilitate blighted properties, build new homes, and assist first-time home buyers in navigating the path to homeownership.
In addition to the Citizen of the Year Award, the evening included special honors for outstanding individuals serving in critical roles across the community:

•Bogalusa Correction Officer of the Year: Wendy Stogner

•WPSO Deputy of the Year: Sgt. Shane Hickman
•Teacher of the Year: Marsha Thibodeaux of Ben’s Ford Christian School
