SPECIAL TO THE DAILY NEWS
A powerful new force for artistic renewal and community healing is rising in the heart of Bogalusa. The Renaissance Studio, located at 116 Georgia Avenue, is preparing to open its doors as a sanctuary for creativity, expression, and mentorship. Its mission: to uplift the community—especially its youth—through the power of visual, musical, and written arts in a spiritually nurturing, faith-inspired environment.
Founded by local artist and former state representative Malinda White, The Renaissance Studio blends heritage with hope. “This is sacred ground for the soul to speak,” White says. “We want to create a space where artists can share their gifts, where youth can find their voice, and where creativity becomes a tool for healing.”
CALL FOR ARTISTS OF ALL GENRES
The Renaissance Studio invites artists of all disciplines—painters, sculptors, pottery, theatrics, musicians, poets, writers, photographers, and mixed media creators—to participate in a collaborative movement rooted in community and purpose. Artists can teach classes, mentor youth, or simply create alongside others in an inspiring shared space.
“We believe in nurturing both the artist and the community,” White explains. “Artists who join this effort will have the opportunity to both give and grow—sharing what they know while being enriched by the energy of this collective mission.”
YOUTH CREATIVE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
A key offering of the studio is its Creative Mentorship Program for youth ages 13–18, which provides sponsored participation in small-group workshops. These sessions are by application only, with selection based on a sincere interest in the arts. By limiting class sizes, the studio ensures focused instruction and genuine growth for each participant.
“This isn’t a drop-in program,” White emphasizes. “We’re cultivating future artists and creators. We want young people who are eager to learn and express themselves through their gifts.”
SOFT OPENING: MAY 30, 2025 | 5–8 PM
The community is invited to a soft opening on Friday, May 30 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, where guests can tour the space, meet participating artists, and learn how to get involved. The event will introduce The Renaissance Studio’s mission and launch the enrollment process for both youth mentorships and artist-led workshops.
