Joseph R. Morgan Jr., age 87, of Bogalusa, La., departed this life peacefully on May 28, 2025, in Richmond, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 5, 1938, in Ponchatoula, La., Bro. Morgan lived a life marked by kindness, faith, and devotion to his family and those he loved. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol Bolton Morgan. He is survived by his beloved step-mother, Lily Morgan of Los Angeles, Calif.; his five children, Robin B. Wrice, Jeffrey Bolton, Sonyia Riley, Gerald Morgan, and Helen Thomas (Duane); 14 grands, 13 great-grands; his siblings, Deborah Small and Renee Heard of Atlanta, Ga., and Tamara Morgan, Michael Morgan (Auset), and sister-in-law, Michelle, all of Los Angeles, Calif. He will be remembered for his fun-loving spirit, quiet strength and his enduring love. A memorial service honoring his life will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 420 Church St., Bogalusa, La. Burial to follow in the Bogalusa Cemetery. Repass at Bethlehem Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 837 E. 7th St., Bogalusa.
