August 5, 2025—Yesterday afternoon, an inmate was severely injured after attempting to escape from a moving inmate transport vehicle while travelling west on LA-10. He and two other inmates were in transit to the Washington Parish Jail after court appearances in Bogalusa earlier in the day. At some point, the inmate was able to exit the transport vehicle while moving. The initial call to WPSO dispatchers reports that a man in an orange jumpsuit was unconscious and lying in the road near the intersection of LA-10 and Choctaw Road. After responding to the scene, EMS personnel transported the inmate to Riverside Medical Center in Franklinton, LA, and he was subsequently airlifted to North Oaks Medical Center for further treatment, where he remains in critical condition.
At this time, it is unclear how the inmate was able to escape from the transport vehicle and how he sustained his injuries. The Louisiana State Police are currently investigating the incident, and more information will be provided once it becomes available.
