On March 22, at approximately 10:00 AM, WPSO deputies initiated a traffic stop on Highway 10 after observing an erratic driver. During the stop, deputies became aware of five juveniles in the vehicle, none of which were restrained, including two infants. The impaired driver was arrested, and deputies brought the children back to the Sheriff’s Office until a family member could be located to take custody.

Upon seeing the hungry children, trustees of the Washington Parish Jail jumped into action and cooked a special meal for them while they waited. Eventually, the uncooperative suspect advised that her mother lived and worked in Mt. Hermon, and after making DCFS aware of the situation, all five children were turned over to their Grandmother in good spirits and well-fed.
