Herman Ball

Herman Ball was born to the late Lattiemore Ball and Ruby Dillon Ball on Aug. 14, 1921, in Tylertown, Miss. He was the oldest of 12 children.
He departed this life on Dec. 8, 2014.
He was married to the late Valerine Graves Ball. To this union eight children were born, Frenchie, Gloria, Herman Jr., Michael, Lattiemore, Condramel, Charles and Vanessa Ball.
He was a member of Harry’s Chapel United Methodist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a “die hard” Atlanta Braves and New Orleans Saints Fan and a lifelong outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a retired employee of James Rivers Corporation, where he served for 37 years.
Preceding him in death are two sons, Herman Jr. and Michael Ball; one stepson, Donald Crain; four brothers, Linzy, Kermit, George Dolve and Wilmer Ball; and one sister, Latiemae Ball.
He will be deeply missed and memories will be cherished by his loving children; grandchildren, Kristie Arthur, Anthony Ball, Brandon Ball, Channing Ball, Bryan Johnson, Breana Johnson, Christopher Phillips and Kyra Ball; six sisters, Genita Brumfield, Dessie Herring, Ella Swails, Wilhelmia Cotton, Odessia Young and Bobbie (Gene) Smith; many nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa.
Funeral Service will be Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Harry’s Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nolan Robinson officiating. Interment will be held in Duffy Memorial Cemetery in Bogalusa.
