Bogalusa begins 2-0 in tournament

Bogalusa began the Jewel Sumner Tournament with a 67-50 victory over Kentwood Wednesday and 64-60 win against St. Helena Central Friday.

Tremarcus Levi finished with 17 points seven rebounds, two blocks, an assist and a steal for the Lumberjacks Wednesday.

Kenyatta Scott recorded 14 points, five assists, three steals and a rebound. Billy Mingo tallied 14 points with five boards, an assist, a block and a steal for the Lumberjacks.

Kenneth Robertson had nine points and three steals in the victory.

In Thursday’s play, Bogalusa came back to defeat St. Helena Central, 64-60.

The Lumberjacks trailed, 39-28, at halftime before making the comeback for the victory.

Mingo tallied 20 points with seven rebounds, four blocks and a steal.

Scott posted seven points, with four steals, three assists, a rebound and a block.

Levi had 14 points, eight boards, two steals and a pair of blocks. Robertson had 11 points, three rebounds, three steals and an assist.

Bowling Green edges Presbyterian

Bowling Green’s K.J. Robertson scored 40 points in a hot shooting night, as the Buccaneers hung on to defeat Presbyterian, 71-70, in a road game Thursday.

Robertson hit 17-of-20 field goals (85 percent), which going included 3 of 4 from beyond the arc. Robertson also grabbed four rebounds for the Bucs. Presbyterian had a chance to tie but missed a 3-pointer late.

They got the rebound and hit a two, but came up short in the Bowling Green victory.

Connor McCain put up 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting and had two rebounds.

Brady Goings and Jared Gambino both posted six points. Bryan Ottinger had four points.

Dylan Varnado tallied three, and Jace Ball added two.

Mt. Hermon downs Springfield

Mt. Hermon’s Jessie Pouncey had a monster game, scoring 35 points while knocking down six 3-pointers in a 71-47 victory over Springfield at home Tuesday.

Corterio Williams scored 18 for the Yellow Jackets.

The Yellow Jackets led, 41-20, at the halftime break.

Jordan Sandifer and Marshaun Dillon finished with five apiece.

Ben’s Ford falls to Sacred Heart

Ben’s Ford Christian School lost to Sacred Heart, 58-47, in a home game held Tuesday.

Bryan Johnson led the Eagles with 19 points,.Destin Pittman tallied 10. Daniel Pittman, Jeremiah Slocum and Peyton Robbins all scored four points for the Eagles.

Lady Bucs fall to Presbyterian

Bowling Green came up short to Presbyterian, 56-52, on the road Thursday

Hollie Waskom scored 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting.

She also had three boards. Kristina Jerrell logged 13 points.

Reagan Moody put up nine points to go with four rebounds.

Ashley Foret had eight points and seven rebounds.

McKinley Seal totaled six points and four rebounds and Katelin Junkins added two points and three rebounds.

Mt. Hermon wins in overtime

Mt. Hermon’s Nicole Riley hit two free throws late in overtime and that proved to be the difference in the game, as the Lady Jackets hung on to defeat Springfield, 50-48, in overtime at home Tuesday.

Riley knocked down the charity tosses with about 20 seconds left to make it a 50-46 game. Springfield was good on a field goal to pull within two. After a Mt. Hermon turnover, Springfield missed a potential game-tying shot.

Mt. Hermon got the rebound and ran the clock out.

Riley finished with 20 points, including three treys. Jada Norman put up 12. Angelica Anthony scored five, and Diamond Pouncey added four.
