Acting on a complaint from a family member and following a thorough investigation, the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Bogalusa resident Walter A. Johnson, 67, for aggravated rape of a minor.
Because of the age of the child and the nature of the crime, further details will not be released.
Johnson is being held in the Washington Parish Jail, charged with aggravated rape. Bond was set at $300,000.
Participating in the investigation were Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigator Damon Mitchell, Washington Parish Deputy Demi Rice, Rayburn Correctional Center Maj. Thomas Mitchell and the Children’s Advocacy Center.
“As a parent and grandparent, I am appalled at the thought of any adult committing sexual battery on a child,” Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said. “Our staff did an excellent job gathering evidence to make an arrest in this matter. I am so pleased with their hard work and the great working relationship we have with Rayburn Correctional Center and the Children’s Advocacy Center.”
