Magee solid in LSU’s victory over NMSU Saturday

LSU’s Terrence Magee put up solid numbers and scored his first touchdown of 2014 in the Tigers’ 63-7 victory over New Mexico State University Saturday night at Tiger Stadium.
Magee, a 2011 Franklinton High School graduate, ran for 62 yards on just eight carries (7.8 yards per carry) and scored his initial touchdown this season on an 11-yard run to open the scoring.
On the Tigers’ fifth possession, they drove 40 yards in five plays. Magee got the call on first-and-10 from the 11 and finished off the drive with the TD.
Colby Delahoussaye hit the extra point to give LSU a 7-0 lead with 2:07 remaining in the opening period.
The Tigers made it 14-0 when Kendell Beckwith returned an interception 29 yards with 19 second showing on the first quarter clock and it stayed that way until the second.
LSU had a huge second quarter, scoring the first 14 points to go up 28-0.
New Mexico got on the board on a 3-yard run to trim it to 28-7, but LSU added a pair of touchdowns before halftime and.
LSU outscored New Mexico State 21-0 in the second half.
Magee was part of a balanced rushing attack for LSU, which produced 363 yards on 54 carries (6.7), and five touchdowns. Leonard Fournette led the rushing group with 18 attempts for 122 yards and two scores.
Five Tigers ran five or more times. This season, Magee has run for 144 yards on 34 attempts and the touchdown Saturday night.
LSU is 4-1 this season. The win pushed the Tigers up two spots in the AP Poll to No. 15.
LSU, which is 0-1 in Southeastern Conference play, looks to get its first SEC victory this season on the road against 4-0 Auburn Saturday night at 6 in a battle of Tigers.
Auburn, the No. 5 team in the AP Poll, was victorious over Louisiana Tech 45-17 in its Homecoming Game Saturday.
