Vaniyah “Peaches” Johnson

On July 16, 2014, Heaven got another angel. After a brief, but unyielding fight with a rare type of AML Leukemia, Vaniyah “Peaches” Johnson passed away surrounded by her family.

Vaniyah Jacklyn-Rose was born March 14, 2005. She was an awesome girl. She was a very active little girl, who loved to run and play. At a very young age Vaniyah started taking lessons in dance, gymnastics and swimming. Vaniyah also enjoyed playing basketball, soccer and tennis. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Vaniyah was a fourth-grader at Three Rivers Elementary School.

Vaniyah was a very active member at Grace Temple Baptist Church where she accepted Christ as her personal savor and was baptized on Aug. 12, 2012.

Vaniyah leaves cherished memories with her parents, Villa Johnson and Savalis Eddy of Gulfport, Miss.; her siblings, Elyah, Brooklyn and Monica Eddy; a stepsister Sha’ Pele Johnson of Gulfport; her grandparents, James and Jacklyn Johnson of Gulfport, Irene Lewis of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Carl Machie, who preceded her in death; her godmother, Tiffani Croig of Detroit, Mich., her uncles Jappele (Erica) Johnson of Detroit, Yancey (Juila) Johnson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Eddie Johnson of Detroit, James Monroe of Rochester, N.Y., and Kedeem Lewis (USMC); her aunts, JaQuetta Harley of Houston, Lattie Garfield of Los Angeles, Calif., Betty Monroe of Alexandria, La.; her favorite aunt and uncle, William and Mary Morris of Baton Rouge; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 24, from 10-11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Grace Temple Baptist Church, 13344 Old Hwy 49, Gulfport, MS 39503.
