Sis. Myrtle James

Sister Myrtle Brown James was born in Angie to the late Brother Jessie Brown and Sister Mageline Mark Brown. She was the second of two children.
Sister Myrtle graduated from Wesley Ray High School. She furthered her education by attending Richard Beauty School, where she graduated as a licensed beautician.
She united with the Wesley Ray United Methodist Church at the age of 12.
Sister Myrtle married the late Brother Harden James Sr. To this union, five children were born, one girl, Mary, and four sons, Jimmie, Harden Jr., Jessie and Aubry.
Sister Myrtle served in many areas of the church. She was a Sunday school teacher and choir president for many years and was part of United Methodist Women, a Trustee, Administrative Board secretary and assistant class leader No. 8.
She worked for many years as a cafeteria worker. He favorite song was “Let Jesus Fix It.”
She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Mary (John) Ratliff of Canton, Mich.; sons, Jessie (Paula) James, the Rev. Harden (Makeda) James of Romulus, Mich., and Aubry (Martha) James of Angie; and one daughter-in-law, Rosalind James of Hackensack, N.J.
She leaves 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Jessie and Mrs. Mageline Brown, her husband, Harden James Sr., one son, Jimmie James, and two sisters, Sophia Brown Pitts and Carrie B. Harris.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, at 11 a.m. Public viewing is at 10 a.m. at Wesley Ray United Methodist Church in Angie, with the Rev. T. August officiating. The eulogist will be Harden James Jr. Interment will be in Moses Cemetery.
