Mary Evelyn Yates

Mary Evelyn Yates, age 62 and a resident of Franklinton, died Saturday, June 7, 2014, at her home.

She was a registered nurse at Good Samaritan Nursing Home and had worked previously at Riverside Medical Center for several years and at other area hospitals. Mary Evelyn had been a nursing professor in El Paso, Texas, early in her career.

She enjoyed working in her yard and planting her flower garden. She had a special place in her heart for her pet dog and best friend, Ellie Mae.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Marie Hardebeck of Shreveport; her son, Charlie Hardebeck of Brookhaven, Miss.; her granddaughter, Alexa Jade Hardebeck; a special cousin, Richard Adrian Yates of Franklinton; and numerous other cousins and family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert “Pud” Yates and Lettie Mae Simmons Yates, and two aunts, Emmie Simmons Miller and Ouida Simmons Erwin.

Visitation will be at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church on Saturday, June 14, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
