Hammond Yankees go 1-3 in tournament
The Hammond Yankees tallied a 1-3 record last weekend at the Marucci Tournament.
The eventh took place at the University of New Orleans, Chalmette and Tulane.
The Yankees lost to Marucci Martin 8-7 and Marucci Martin 8-6 Thursday before downing the Louisiana Outlaws 8-6.
The final game was a 10-4 setback to Amedee Sunday.
Franklinton’s C.J. Estave walked and drove in a run over his four at bats.
Northshore Baseball Academy goes 0-3
The Northshore Baseball Academy lost its three games last weekend at Northwestern State University, which is located in Natchitoches.
The team lost 2-0 to the Texas Prospects Friday with the Prospects scoring both runs in the first.
They played two Saturday and lost to the eventual tournament winner El Sueno 7-6.
They allowed six runs in the first inning.
The final contest was an 8-4 setback to Empire.
Bowling Green’s Zach Bell plays for the Northshore Baseball Academy. For the tournament, he walked twice and was hit by a pitch in his six plate appearances.
Pine blanks Bowling Green
Pine shutout Bowling Green 5-0 in summerball action held Monday at Pine.
Winning pitcher Hunter Cooper allowed one hit and struckout six in four innings.
Offensively, he posted two hits.
Jordan Phelps threw three frames in relief, allowing two hits and striking out four.
Jonathan Lyons tallied two hits and an RBI, while Landon Fonda logged a hit and scored a run.
Jamie Adcox finished with one hit, while Trey Cooper walked and was hit by a pitch.
Pine played an error-free game.
