Willie “Millie” Vermel Tucker, age 77, passed away June 12, 2014, at Oschner Medical Center in New Orleans. She was a resident of Bogalusa and member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Tommy Bates, Ricky Bates and Jimmy Bates, all of Bogalusa; one daughter, Kerrie Branch of Varnado; one brother, Willie “Billy” Bonney Jr. of Tupelo, Miss.; and one sister, Patty Keel of Tupelo. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by one son, David Bates; one daughter, Lori Bates; parents, Willie Columbus Sr. and Dimmie Bonney; two brothers, Jerry and Buddy Bonney; one sister, Elizabeth DeVaughn; and two grandsons, Ricky Bates Jr. and Terry Branch Jr.

Visitation will be held in the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home on Saturday from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will continue Sunday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until time for service at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Seal Cemetery in Varnado. The Rev. Clayton “Red” Kennedy will officiate.
