Harvey Willard Spears, 84 and a resident of Franklinton, died at 3 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2014, at his residence.
He was a member of Brockdale Apostolic Church for 24 years. He later was a member and helped to establish the Everlasting Gospel Church in Tylertown. He loved to garden and spend time farming. He enjoyed listening to live gospel music. He was known as a giver always giving something.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda Anderson Boudreaux and Allen of Franklinton, stepdaughter, Rose Rowell of Franklinton, two grandchildren and spouses, Tabitha Brewer and Patrick and Chris Wright and Marilyn, 10 great-grandchildren, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby Ray Spears Sr. and Linda and Billy Wayne Spears and Vinnie, all of Thomas, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Nell Bounds of Thomas, Brenda Hebert and Jon of Denham Springs and Georgia Cantrell and Don of Robert, three sisters-in-law, Joanna Spears of Tylertown, Margaret Spears of Thomas and Nola Spears of Franklinton, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his many special friends at Jack Brown Grocery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ander and Martha Dean Spears, son-in-law Paul Anderson, granddaughter Tiffany Durkes, great-granddaughter Megan Wright, four brothers, Herbert Spears, Howard Spears, H.W. Spears and E.T. Spears, and a brother-in-law, Charlie Bounds.
Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014, and after 9 a.m. Sunday. A funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Gene Simpkins, the Rev. Randall Garcia and the Rev. Jerry Wayne Cox officiating. Burial followed in the Thomas Cemetery.
