The Washington Area Museum Foundation is sponsoring a “Spring Fling” Street Fair on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Streets surrounding the museum will be blocked off early.

There will be live music, a silent auction, a cake walk, food booths, kid’s activities, arts and crafts booths and more. The antique fire truck will be on display, as well as exotic animals from Barn Hill Preserve, snakes and other critters from the Louisiana Herpetological Society, a pick-a-duck for a prize pool and more.

In addition, there will be a “Trunk” Garage Sale, with spots available for $10. Vendors will open their car trunk and sell garage sale items. No tables please.

Booths are still available to rent for crafts vendors and garage salers. Call Kaye Branch at 515-5121 to reserve a booth.

Cast members from the Franklinton Community Theater’s production “Saturday Night at Old Smokey” will entertain around midday, singing some of the songs from the play, which are based on traditional hymns and gospel standards. The play, produced by Rod Sabiston, features local actors and will be presented as a dinner theatre in late June.

Inside the museum, the “Washington Parish Art and Artists” exhibit will be on display featuring work by adult artists as well as more than 230 pieces of art by parish students who participated in the student art competition. Visitors to the Street Fair will have one last chance to vote for “People’s Choice.” Winners of the competition will be announced mid-afternoon.
