One picture found amidst a box full of historic photographs just discovered at Bogalusa City Hall has a particularly timely significance. The major hostilities of WWI were formally ended on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. The picture shows a “Peace Celebration” in Bogalusa on that day. The list describing the pictures in the box describes this one as: “Celebrating end of World War I, Goodyear Park. Nov. 11, 1918. Movie screen at right, projection booth center, stands left, Central School in background.”
