Ben’s Ford Christian School snapped its six-game losing streak Friday, topping Central Private 21-0 in District 6AA road action Friday.
Ben’s Ford (3-6, 1-2) led 6-0 at halftime then scored 15 points in the final period to seal the victory over Central Private (0-9, 0-3).
“It’s big for the kids mentally and emotionally,” Ben’s Ford coach Tommy Pittman said. “When you lose, everything hurts. It’ll give us momentum going into next week.”
Aaron Taylor turned in a big night, running for 231 yards on 24 carries and a touchdown. Defensively, he recorded a sack.
“He’s running hard and took care of the ball,” Pittman said. “He had a big night.”
Destin Pittman threw for 23 yards, including a 15-yard touchdown to Austin Hunt, who also recorded a sack.
Pittman also rushed for 74 yards on 10 attempts.
Corey Caldwell finished with 26 yards on the ground, and Garrett Pounds scored on a 1-yard run.
Jordan Thomas continued to play well defensively, making 10 tackles and recovering a muffed punt. Thomas has 114 stops this year.
“He’s one of those guys who is a difference maker,” Pittman said. “We’ve got some guys at defensive end, Aaron (Taylor) and Shelby (Culpepper), who turn the play back inside, and Thomas is there to clean it up,” Pittman said.
Culpepper finished with seven tackles and two sacks.
Tyler Milner made nine stops, recording three sacks and a tackle for a safety.
Ben’s Ford will try to make it two straight Friday as the Eagles play their final regular season game, hosting Silliman Institute.
