GRUBBS

Henry Hinton Grubbs, 93, passed away at his home in Tylertown, Miss., Friday, June 14, 2013.

He was born on Oct. 23, 1919, to Enoch and Cleora Harvey Grubbs, and was raised and lived his entire life in the Salem Community. He was a lifelong member of Salem Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. In his younger years he owned and operated a community grocery. Later, he was employed and retired from Transco Gas Pipeline.

He enjoyed traveling, visiting with his neighbors and growing vegetables from his garden to give to family and friends. He loved nothing more than sharing a delicious meal with guests at his home. He always said there was no reason to leave his house hungry.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Elise Brumfield Grubbs and Ruth Andrews Pigott Grubbs; a brother, Clinton Grubbs; three sisters, Ruby Grubbs Ginn, Dixie Grubbs Ginn and Era Grubbs Luter; one son-in law, Rev. Ricky Johnston; two daughters-in-law, Lynda Anderson Grubbs and Brenda Webb Grubbs; and one grandson, Kirk Conerly.

He is survived by four sons, Gilbert (Juanita) Grubbs of Miramar Beach, Fla., Mack (Vickie) Grubbs of Hattiesburg, Miss., Brent Grubbs of Tylertown and Ed (Beth) Pigott of Ellijay, Ga.; two daughters, Jo Nell (Joe) Grubbs Johnston Fairchild of Tylertown and Linda Pigott Ebbers of Brookhaven, Miss.; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.

Visitation was Monday, June 17, from 5-8 p.m. at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home, and continued on Tuesday at Salem Baptist Church from 9-9:45 a.m.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. with the Reverends Billy Murphy and Bendon Ginn officiating. Robert Schepers and Bonita Ward provided music. Burial followed in the Tylertown Cemetery

Pallbearers were Steve Pigott, Ty Grubbs, Gabe Grubbs, Josh Johnston, John Parker and Jesse “Tadpole” Andrews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be given to the Henry Grubbs Memorial Fund at Salem Baptist Church, 886 Highway 27 North, Tylertown, MS 39667.
