Head Start/Early Head Start recruiting children for 2013-14

Franklinton Head Start is recruiting children between the ages of 6 weeks and 4 years old to participate in the 2013-2014 school year. Franklinton Early Head Start operates M-F 7:15-3:15 for children who are 6 weeks to 3 years and whose parents are in high school, college, or community schools, or may also be working.
Applications are being taken now at 531 Hilltop Drive in Franklinton.
Head Start serves all children in the community including those who have a special need and/or severe disability. Proof of income for the past 12 months, 1040 or W-2, and verification of the child’s birth date must be provided at the time of application.
Head Start is a free preschool program that provides educational, health, nutrition, social and parental involvement services to children and families. Head Start provides services to eligible children without regard to race, sex, creed, color, national origin or disability. Franklinton Head Start is one of 17 centers in the state accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Franklinton Head Start has maintained this NAEYC accreditation since 1997. It is also licensed by the State of Louisiana with a Class A License since 1971. Currently, the center is rated as a 5-Star Center through the Quality Start Office in Baton Rouge. Any business making a donation to the center will receive a 20 percent tax credit because of the 5-star rating.
Franklinton Head Start offers two programs for eligible children.
Pre-K Head Start operates M-F from 7:45-1:45 for children who are 3 or 4 by Sept. 30.
