Severe thunderstorm warning issued/tornado watch in effect

The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Washington Parish until 12:45 p.m.
At 11:48 a.m., meteorologists detected a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 miles per hour. Storms were along a line extending from six miles west of Franklinton to 10 miles west of Madisonville, or along a line from six miles west of Franklinton to 14 miles southeast of Hammond, and moving east at 40 miles per hour.
Radar has indicated some weak rotation within this storm. While not immediately likely, a tornado may still develop. If a tornado is spotted, act quickly and move to a place of safety in a sturdy structure such as a small interior room.
This is a dangerous storm. If you are in its path, prepare immediately for damaging winds, destructive hail and deadly cloud to ground lightning. People outside should move to a shelter, preferably inside a strong building but away from windows.
