JENKINS
James Arnold Jenkins, 75, died at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at his home in Franklinton.
A veteran, he was born Dec. 14, 1937, he was a former state meat inspector with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture. He was a longtime active member of Midway Missionary Baptist Church but he enjoyed attending services at numerous other churches within the community. He also enjoyed visiting with families and drinking coffee at all the local funeral homes.
He is survived by two daughters and spouses, Laquetta (David) Passman and Lauretta (Bruce) Roberts, both of Franklinton; one son and spouse, James Kelson and Junie Jenkins of Franklinton; a grandson, Mitchell Jenkins; five step-grandchildren: Nicholas Jones, Cody Jones, Wade Pennington, Jenny Goldman and Katrina Waldon; two step-great-grandchildren, Jenny Jones and Ashley Waldon; one step-great-great-grandchild, Damion Waldon; an aunt, Ida Nell Passman Wright of Franklinton; three special friends, Ottis Bennett, Shelton Carpenter and Huey Passman; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Nobles Jenkins; his parents, Charlie Wilburn Jenkins and Lora Mae Brock Jenkins; his father-in-law, Artis Nobles, his mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law, Hilda Wallace Sorrell and Virgil Sorrell; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, E.A. and Nell Nobles and Martha Darnell; and an uncle, Winfred Passman.
Visitation was held Sunday, April 7 at Crain Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. and again on Monday from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Billy Barber, Bro. Morgan Farmer and Bro. Leon Hickman officiating. Burial followed in the Midway Missionary Baptist Church cemetery.
