Lady Raiders beat St. Helena
The Pine Lady Raiders improved to 4-0 in Disrict 8-2A play Friday night, defeating St. Helena Central, 56-38, on the road.
Pine trailed 10-7 after the first quarter and 29-22 at the half, but outscored the host team in the third quarter 16-5 to take control of the game.
Breyanna Brown led the Lady Raiders with 21 pionts, three steals and 10 rebounds. Shay Seals scored 14 points and had four steals and two assists. Morgan Thomas scored five points, Paris Kennedy, Nyxavion Robertson and Amber Nettles scored four each and Kaylee Turnage and Laken Breedlove scored two each. Robertson also had six rebounds, and Kennedy had four steals.
St. Helena was led by Kalaedra Self with 15 points.
St. Helena tops Pine
Four players scored in double figures for Pine Friday night, but it wasn’t enough to hold off St. Helena Central, which won the District 8-2A game, 64-52.
St. Helena led 16-10 after the first quarter, 36-20 at the half and 51-28 at the end of the third period.
Derrick Dillon and Cody Cooper scored 13 points each for Pine, while Trent Ard and Curtis Hart had 11 points each.
Pine was 1-3 in district play following the game, while St. Helena Central was also 1-3.
John Curtis wins at Franklinton
Defending 2A state champion John Curtis was too much for Franklinton to handle Saturday afternoon, beating the Demons 79-39.
Trey Anders scored 19 in the game for Franklinton, while Logan Seal had six, Charmarl Magee, Dejion Alston and Mitchell Murphy had four each and Azende T. Magee had two.
In junior varsity action, John Curtis beat Franklinton, 66-33.
