Johnny Will Monday Sr.

Johnny Will Monday Sr., born to J.C. Monday and Moderner Dillon Monday on March 29, 1936, departed this life Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 12:46 p.m. at LSU Bogalusa Medical Center.
He married Ora Bell Garrett on Nov. 14, 1954 and to this union six children were born.
He worked in New Orleans as an ironworker, tying steel and helped to build the Causeway bridge, New Orleans Superdome and other properties. He then moved to Lusby, Md. to help build the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant and later moved to California and Arkansas, where he worked as an iron worker until he became disabled after a hip injury.
He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories two sons, Johnny Will Monday Jr. of Waukegan, Ill. and Tony Lawrence Monday of Lusby; three daughters, Deena M. Pierce of Franklinton and Myra Ioatha Monday Campbell and Annis Y. Monday-Campbell, both of Lusby; one brother, Donald Ray Monday of White Sands, Miss.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; like a granddaughter, Ciji Marks; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lisa Alberta Monday; a brother, Charles Monday; sisters, Vermell Travis, Alberta Travis and Diane Monday; and a son-in-law, Weendell (Huskey) Pierce.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 28 at Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist Church at 1 p.m.
