A Mt. Hermon man whose fate was left undecided by a hung jury in January was brought back to trial and convicted this week.

Willie Dorsey, 36, was found guilty as charged of aggravated rape and aggravated incest for crimes that were reported in 2007.

“The victim was visiting family on the south shore when she disclosed to a family member what was going on,” said Rick Wood of District Attorney Walter Reed’s office. “The family member contacted Children’s Hospital which conducted a check up and interview and then contacted the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office. The sexual abuse had been going on for some time. Dorsey was arrested.”

This time it took the jury about four and a half hours to come to a decision. It delivered the guilty verdict Thursday night.

Judge William Crain set sentencing for July 10. The convictions carry a mandatory life sentence.
