Last week, the Ride for Heroes team completed its two-month, recumbent trike journey across America in support of the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. The trip began June 10 in St. Augustine, Fla., where the riders touched the Atlantic Ocean at Anastasia State Park, and it drew to a close Friday, Aug. 10 in Ocean Side, Calif., the home of Camp Pendleton. Altogether, the group of Marines and Marine supporters traveled 2,814 miles, including a brief stop in Washington Parish in late June. Over the course of their journey-by-bike, the team members “gained an appreciation for how much America loves the Marine Corps,” rider John Gerlaugh said.
