Daniel Edmond “Danny” Smith, 47, a resident of Franklinton, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2012 at 6:36 p.m. at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was born Aug. 9, 1965 in Bogalusa and was known to most as Danny.
He was a self-employed carpenter and an avid hunter. He was always at peace on his tractor or in his deer stand waiting for his big buck.
He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Norma Jean Warren Smith of Franklinton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean LaCole Smith Donald and Robert Donald III of Covington and Susan LeAnna Smith and Danny Chain Jr. of Franklinton; a son, Danny Allen Smith of Franklinton; a grandson, Braiden Cole Smith; a granddaughter, Rylie Anna Chain; his mother, Ruby Lee Keating Smith of Pine; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Ray Phelps of Bogalusa, Brenda and Berley Broom of Foxworth, Miss., Ruby and Shannon Fish of Kokomo, Miss. and Betty and John Ginn of Columbus, Miss.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Denford Earl Smith and Rusty and Tina Jones, all of Franklinton; his father-in-law, R.O. Warren of Pine; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wilson and Marie Gerald, Rondal and Sherry Warren, Raymond Warren and Tiger and Misty Verdin, all of Pine; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Junior Smith; a sister, Glenda Smith; a brother, Allen Dale Smith; his mother-in-law, Carol Jean Warren; and a niece, Gloria “Faith” Warren.
Visitation was held Thursday, Aug. 16 at Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. and will resume Friday at 9 a.m. A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Denny Brumfield and Rev. Laroy Keating officiating. Burial will follow at Warren Cemetery.
