On Aug. 9, Franklinton Police Department PFC James Pugh, along with his K-9 partner, Hasko, were on criminal patrol in Franklinton, when at approximately 11 p.m. Pugh conducted a traffic stop in reference to improper lighting.
Upon coming into contact with the vehicle’s driver, Brance Bridges of Franklinton, Pugh smelled what he believed to be marijuana coming from the vehicle. After sending Hasko on a search pattern around the vehicle, the dog alerted on the vehicle, at which time Pugh searched it, finding approximately 120 grams of suspected marijuana, a set of digital scales and a .38 caliber revolver.
Bridges was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm in the presence of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lighting. Bridges was subsequently turned over to the Washington Parish Jail pending bond.
