Mr. and Mrs. Mark (Nancy) Corkern of State Line announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Jessica Renee Corkern, to Robert Edwin Miller Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Kim) Miller Sr. of Pine.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Woodrow and Hilda Sones of State Line and the late Daniel and Masel Corkern of Sheridan. She is a 2007 graduate of Pine High School and currently attends Southeastern Louisiana University where she will earn a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education on May 14.

The groom-to-be is the grandson of Calvin E. Irvine Sr. and the late Ann Irvine of Varnado and Geneva K. Miller and the late Walter “‘Doby” Miller of Pine. He is also the great-grandson of Velma Aleyene Hill of Bogalusa. He is a 2006 graduate of Pine High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University in December. He currently is employed as a registered nurse at Resthaven Living Center.

Vows will be exchanged in a 2 p.m. ceremony at Briarwood Baptist Church in State Line on June 4, with a reception to follow at the Briarwood Fellowship Hall. Following a honeymoon to Tennessee, the couple will reside in State Line.
