Football’s regular season is once again upon us

Regular season football is here.
The season opens tonight for a pair of local schools, Bowling Green and Ben’s Ford Christian School. Both participate in the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools.
Fans of the Buccaneers will be able to stay in Washington Parish to support Bowling Green this week, as the Buccaneers are at home playing against the New Orleans Home School Saints.
Last season was a struggle for Bowling Green, which finished with a 2-7 record and scored more than 20 points just twice.
This season, the team is looking to turn things around and showed plenty of improvement in its jamboree game at Ben’s Ford. Bowling Green won that game, 12-0, over CHEF.
The Buccaneers’ defense was solid and the offense did a good job of moving the football.
Ben’s Ford is on the road tonight. The Eagles are heading to Pickens Academy in Alabama.
The Eagles enter this season after a historic 2014 that saw Ben’s Ford reach the playoffs for the first time in the football program’s history.
At last week’s jamboree game, which Ben’s Ford captured 20-0 over Salem, the Eagles looked to be in midseason form. Ben’s Ford’s defense stopped the first play of the game for a 4-yard loss, and then recovered a fumble on the second. On the second offensive play from scrimmage, the Eagles were on the board.
We wish both of these schools good luck tonight and for the rest of the season.
