Approximately 120 senior citizens took part in health screenings during Friday’s Washington Parish Council on Aging’s Health Fair at the Bogalusa Senior Center.
Seniors took advantage of having their blood pressure checked or oxygen tested by the vendors who participated in the Health Fair.

Vendors included Family Home Health, Camellia Home Health and Hospice, Egan Home Health & Hospice, Good Samaritan Living Center, Riverside Medical Center, Nielson’s Pharmacy, Louisiana Department of Insurance, Lindsey White Heritage Manor in Franklinton, Vita Link Home Health, Beacon Behavioral Hospital, Americare Home Health & Hospice, Resthaven Living Center, Our Lady of the Angels Hospital, Deaf Action Center, Northshore, Southern University in Baton Rouge, Oceans Behavioral Health Hospital and Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Seniors also took advantage of available flu shots at the site.

Our Lady of the Angels Family Medical Clinic R.N. Vicki Saucier said her group had blood pressure checks run the gamut.

“We’ve had high blood pressures and low pressures,” Saucier said. “We’ve discussed the high blood pressure checks with the partipant. We talk to people about diet control, medications and keeping appointments with their primary doctor. High blood pressure needs to be addressed with your physician,”

Site Manager Shirley Cooper said screenings went well.

“I think the Health Fair went great. People were in the flu shot line all day.”

Senior citizens came in from the four senior living centers located throughout the parish.
