Last week was an eventful week in Washington Parish, as people throughout the parish had many events to enjoy.

Throughout the week was the Washington Parish Free Fair. Many headed to the fairgrounds to enjoy the different activities the fair has to offer, including the bands, rides, the parades, the 5K, the rodeo and more.

There were a countless number of volunteers who help out each year in making the fair a success and it’s another great chance to show fair attendees from out of town how great our parish is.

Saturday was a chance to vote for several positions, as many people took to the polls.

Congratulations to those who won and we wish good luck in the next election, to those who made it to the runoff.

On Thursday and Friday, local football teams to the field for some important games, as the season winds down.

Four teams were in action and combined to go 3-1.

Franklinton played Thursday and was victorious while Bogalusa and Varnado won their games Friday. Ben’s Ford Christian School finished its season with a loss.

Bowling Green was on a bye for the final week of the regular season. The Buccaneers reached the playoffs and are playing against Cathedral Unit School on the road tonight.

Franklinton is at home tonight while Pine, Bogalusa and Varnado are all on the road.

Good luck to the local teams.
