On Wednesday, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested Johnny E. Sandifer, 68, a resident of Highway 439 in Bogalusa, on two counts of aggravated crime against nature. He remains in the Washington Parish Jail with bond set at $800,000.
Chief Deputy Mike Haley said that the investigation began when a victim came to the Sheriff’s Office with complaints dating back several years. Several other persons came forward and gave witness statements, which confirmed the allegations.
Due to the very sensitive nature of the allegations and the need to protect victims and witnesses, no further information will be provided, Haley said.
“This is a tragic case and I am grateful to our detectives for handling it in such a professional manner,” Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said. “Based on the circumstances of this matter, Mr. Sandifer is where he should be — in jail.”
