A Washington Parish bridge will be closed for more than a month, with construction slated to begin Monday.

Parish Public Works Director Leo Lucchesi said that the bridge over Bogue Lusa Creek, located on Ben’s Ford Road, would be closed during the reconstruction.

This is an off-system bridge that will be reconstructed by Washington Parish public works employees, Lucchesi said.

The bridge will be reconstructed with all new wood members. This reinforcement will allow a larger weight capacity, and the construction includes newly paved approaches and guardrails.

The shortest suggested detour around the closing is east of this location where Louisiana Highway 60 connects with Louisiana Highway 439.

The estimated time for construction completion is March 11, weather permitting. This project is funded through a grant from FEMA.
