Annie Mae Short Burnette

Mrs. Annie Mae Short Burnette, 70, a resident of Bogalusa, was called to glory on Jan. 27, 2016, at Louisiana Heart Hospital in LaCombe.
Annie Mae was the second born of the late Curtis and Bernice Short Sr. on May 13, 1945, in Quentin, Miss. She attended Central Memorial High School, where she graduated in 1964. She was a dedicated member of Sweet Beulah Baptist Church, under the leadership of the Rev. James Magee Sr.
Annie Mae was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Lucious John Burnette on June 24, 1968.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: her husband, Mr. Lucious John Burnette of Bogalusa; four daughters, Kim (Aquinas) White, Robyn Short, Vickie Burnette and Demetrius (Hendria) Thompson, all of Bogalusa; two sons, Terry Burnette and Karry Burnette of Bogalusa; one brother, Lindsey Ray Short of Bogalusa; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, all of Bogalusa; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Calvin Short; her parents, Curtis and Bernice Short Sr.; three brothers, Carlton Short, Turonnie Short and Curtis Short Jr.; her maternal grandparents, Louis Gray and Annie B. Crockett; and her paternal grandparents, Tom and Ella Short.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 3, at the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. The funeral service will be held Thursday, Feb. 4, at Sweet Beulah Baptist Church in Bogalusa at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. James Magee officiating.
Interment will be in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Bogalusa is in charge of arrangements.
