Bogalusa wins team, individual event at meet

Bogalusa had a relay team and an individual capture an event each at the West Harrison Track and Field Invitational.
Bogalusa, the only Washington Parish team in the meet, was victorious in the 4×400 relay with a time of 4 minutes, 44 seconds. The Lady Jacks won by almost five seconds over West Harrison (4:49). The team consisted of Javonni Bickham, O’Layzha Morris, De’Erica Myers and D’Sha Rankins.
Rankins took home first place in the shot put at 34 feet, 4 inches.
Teammate Lulu Ball was ninth (24-7).
Rankins (13.66) and Myers (14.47) ran fourth and ninth in the 100, as Harrison Central’s Aniyah Granberry won in 13 seconds.
Rankins was also ninth in the 200-meters (32.69), as D’Iberville’s Christy Cotton won the event in 27.99. D’Erica Myers was seventh in the event at 32.06.
Ball finished fifth in the discus (72-1) and teammate Destiny St. Amant was 14th (43-5). D’Iberville’s Amari Sanders won at 97-4.
Ball recorded a sixth-place finish in the triple jump (25-10.5), as Medidian’s Kaylee Zettler won (33-6.5).
Morris was fifth in high jump (4-8). Meridian’s Zaria Jones captured the event at 5-8.
Diamond Martin (59.96) and Bickham (1:07) ran sixth and ninth in the 300-hurdles. Zettler ran a 49.6 to win.
Martin (21.69) and Asia Nelson (21.87) were ninth and 10th for the 100-hurdles. Jones was fastest in the event in 17.43.
Nelson was ninth for the 400 (1:16), as Vancleave’s Jaden Russell won in 1:03.
Bogalusa’s 4×200 team (1:57) was sixth. The team had Morris, Rankins, Myers and Jameka Lewis. Meridian won in 1:51.
Bogalusa finished sixth in the team competition with 49 points.
Meridian won the event with 187 points in a seven-team field. West Harrison was runner-up with 105, followed by Harrison Central (97), D’Iberville (90) and Vancleave (56).
