Drowsily, I half stumbled into the kitchen fumbling for the light switch. Soon the delectable smell of coffee brewing filled my nostrils as thoughts of today’s activities floated into my sleepy head. My lips slipped into smile mode when the voice of Joyce Meyers rang out through the television speakers. Her words did not cause me to smile. No… it was the memory of my eldest son calling from his bedroom in times past. “Turn the TV down, Mom. I can’t stand that woman’s voice!”

Joyce does have a sort of gravely, unusual voice, but she has been my morning companion for many a year. On this particular morning my routine didn’t vary much until I spotted water coming from under the refrigerator, again! Mike thought he had that leak fixed, but apparently that was not the case.

“Good morning, Mike. I hope you had a good night. Me? Oh, fine. But there is something I need to tell you. You know all the time you spent working on the refrigerator? Well, it’s leaking again,” I spoke into the phone. After a brief discussion of the pros and cons of purchasing a new one verses repairing the old we both agreed that it was time to shop for another fridge.

Although I was disappointed that Mike’s hard work on said refrigerator had been unsuccessful, I must admit that shopping for the new stainless steel one that I had been eyeing appealed to me.

Before long, I could be seen perusing the aisles of the home store we frequent searching for a good deal on a new one. The search proved fruitful; the refridgerator I had chosen before was on sale! The associate working with me explained that there was also a special promotion going on. It was called buy more-save more. “So you mean,” I asked her almost incredulously, “if I purchase other appliances for the kitchen today the percentage of my savings goes up with each purchase?”

“That is correct; it’s really an excellent time to make a major purchase,” she stated. I was glad that I had saved a good bit of my income from my jobs. What a good time to have a little extra money, I thought. With that and the six months same as cash this should work out just fine.

My friend, a.k.a. handyman has now removed our old appliances, and they have found new homes. The freshly cleaned tile is patiently waiting for the shiny new appliances to come rolling down the drive. Soon the new kitchen I wanted will be complete. 

If we had purchased it when the problem with the fridge first arose a little while ago, we would have missed out on the sale prices. I thought at the time that it would be a long while before our new kitchen became a reality, but it didn’t turn out to be long at all. Funny, but when we relax and wait on God’s perfect timing, even for something as insignificant as new appliances, things always have a way of working out.
