George Earl Thomas

George Earl Thomas, a resident of Bogalusa, passed away at his home on April 6, 2016, at the age of 84.
George was born on Feb. 22, 1932 to Ephriam and Mecy Thomas of Plainview. He was the youngest of eight siblings. As a child, he enjoyed working on the family farm. He was a graduate of Bogalusa High School.
He worked at the Bogalusa Paper Mill and retired in 1997 after 45 years. After retirement, he certainly didn’t sit still. He did work all over the parish with his Massey Ferguson tractor. He used his tractor for more than just work. He pulled floats in the MCCA parade for 26 years. He also enjoyed pulling floats for the Fourth of July parades.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Estelle “Polly” Thomas; brothers, Archie, Alton, Virgil and Harold; sisters, Mabel George and Ruth Little; and special nephew, Elton Thomas.
He is survived by: four sons and one daughter, Earl (Stacy) Thomas of Bogalusa, Roger (Cheri) Thomas of Angie, Carey Thomas of Bogalusa, Dana (Troy) Seal of Varnado and Jeff (Kim) Thomas of Bogalusa; 11 grandkids, Haley (Eric) Acquistapace of Covington, Kirk (Alisha) Thomas of Franklinton, Lindsey Thomas of Ponchatoula, Andy Thomas of Hammond, Emily Thomas of Bogalusa, Savannah Kennedy of Angie, Erika (Matt) Parker of Bogalusa, Selena Sealm of Gulfport, Miss., Diamond Seal of Varnado, Skyler (Matt) Williams of Pine and Allie Thomas of Bogalusa; eight great-grandchildren, Luca and Stella Acquistapace, Gunnar and Kate Parker, Lylianna Hand, Tucker and Trevor Seal and Everett Williams; one brother, Vernon Thomas of Bogalusa; numerous nieces and nephews and a special nephew, Wendell Helton, who enjoyed watching “The Price is Right” and the “Wheel of Fortune” with George.
Arrangements will be at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home with Bro. Eric Williams officiating.
